Filters

Reflections:

This project wasn't really hard and for me personally it was pretty easy. But one thing that was difficult was to just pick one filter because there was so many cool filters that could go well with the photos I took in Chicano Park Day. I tried to pick a filter that made the photo look clear and you can know was is in the photo. I tried to make it clear as possible. Overall I had fun doing this project and learning different things on how you can edit your photos.

P(16) Social Issue

Vandalism/Graffiti

Where it exists? why it exist?

Graffiti exists in places like Los angles , Bogota Colombia , Australia and New York. Mostly you could find it in public places and open building that have a lot of space. Also Graffiti exist to expose the deep contradictions as a society also tagging is really common in not so good places. People find tagging as a vandalism but it kind of depends on the art. Which is destroying public and private which is most people get in trouble for.

How you went about taking or creating your photos?

I'm always surrounded by things that are being vandalized and graffiti is everywhere where I live so taking these pictures weren't really that difficult for me in my opinion. But the only thing that was difficult was trying to choose only 10 photos that show graffiti/Vandalism. Because Graffiti counts as Vandalism so it was really difficult to just choose 10. Also I thought it would be a good idea to put the pics Black and White because it has that type of feel. Also felt that black and white can bring more contrast to the photos and have it more in depth. Overall I'm pretty happy about my photos.

Personal opinion on the topic

In my personal opinion I don't really find it a problem because I'm always surrounded by stuff being vandalized and in my neighborhood graffiti is everywhere where I live. So I'm already used to the fact that things are always being written on and stuff are being destroyed in private and public properties. But I also think that it's bad to destroy stuff and tag on properties that aren't suppose to be written on. If your just tagging just to tag then you should just not do it at all. I personally think that Chicano Park is a great example of art or street art is great too. I rather see art in the streets instead of seeing random words being written on random things.

(P) Photographic Narrative

Reflection: What I like about this project is that we are telling a story though photos and it doesn't have to involve any words or descriptions. For me personally any photos that have some type of message or meaning to it is a great photo for me in my eyes. Also for me doing these type of photos for me set a type of mood. Also it can probably bring the message across more clearly. For my story I did a story about how you need to smoking because it isn't healthy for our bodies and bringing across that message is very important. Also for the teens in this generation.

Reflection: We have done a few projects already but one of my favorites would have to be the  Outdoor Portrait project. I personally like to take pictures of people more than I do of like trees and flowers etc. But If I do take pictures of murals because I believe that every mural has a story, for example, Chicano Park has a lot of history behind it. I would say that my least favorite project would have to be the Hands project because I personally don't like to take pictures of hands unless it has some sort of meaning to it. I'm not really a big fan of hands but it was a good challenge. I usually don't like to edit my pictures because I like the original better but I do use Lightroom just to bring out the color of one of my photos or to make it pop or change the color of the photo to black. Lightroom isn't that hard but I do have a difficult time trying to find out how I can save my photos but that is about it. But I would like to still use Lightroom so that I can learn more about it and hopefully get good on my editing skills. I hope 2nd semester we get to do more like portrait photos or take pictures of murals and black and white photos.

P(11) Silhouettes

Reflection:  This project wasn't that difficult but I will say that trying to find the right lighting to take the picture is pretty hard. I took the pictures when it was dark outside but I also tried to find at least some light so that the picture wouldn't turn black. What I enjoyed was being able to challenge by skills on how to take pictures and I also learned that it is really difficult to take pictures in the dark and its better you take the pictures while the sun is out or when the sun is about to go down. But overall I enjoyed to take silhouettes pictures. It's one of my favorites now.

(P10) Quiet Moments

Reflection:

The most difficult part of this project was to find a good setting that could be quiet or somewhere where people can just chill. Finding a setting that is just still and no movement. Also finding the right moments to take a picture and making sure that it was a quiet moment. My favorite picture is the black and white photo that I took of my brother. I caught it at the right moment and it is my favorite.
